Diwali or Deepavali is the Hindu festival of lights. It is one of the biggest Hindu festival and spiritually signifies the victory of light over darkness, good over evil, knowledge over ignorance, and hope over despair.

We celebrate Diwali in our home too (on a little scale). It's to get some cleaning done, make some yummy food, decorate the house and dress up.
Diwali is celebrated anytime between October and November. It coincides with the darkest new moon night according to Hindu Calendar.
This year Diwali was celebrate on Sunday 30th October 2016. We had some friends over during he day and we enjoyed some really nice food together. We did some prayers in the evening and lights candles all around the house.
It's time like these when I miss my family. Growing up we had so much fun during festivals. We would do everything that was involved and had such a good time. Mum would make different things to eat, we would decorate the house and dad bought all the presents :). It's the time you bond with your family and make some good memories.
I had a really good time here with my husband and two babies but I missed my family in India a lot.
Here is a inside and outside view of my Mum and Dad's house on the night of Diwali.
