Fight like a girl...

Well let’s just start by saying for years this is a negative statement ‘stop fighting like a girl’ or ‘don’t cry like a girl’.

A lot of fathers/ parents actually use this statement to motivate their boys. Like seriously don’t you have anything else to say other than making them feel that it’s a bad thing to fight like a girl or cry like a girl. From the very beginning of our little boys life we teach them what the girls do is either a sign of weakness or not good enough. Especially when it comes to so called ‘manly things’. (What does that even mean).

Don’t even get me started on what it does to a girl.

This is the reason why when these boys grow up into insecure men and they can’t handle a strong women. They can’t understand why this woman earns more money than me or is more successful than me or is better at sports than me or can make better decisions than me, the list is long. You see we destroyed the little boy’s thinking at the very beginning 🙄. Even in 2018 a lot of men think that it’s a women’s  job to cook, clean, take care of the kids etc. It’s getting better but it’s still there. It should be as simple as, do you want to eat- go ahead cook a meal or give a hand to cook it, do you like to sleep on a clean bed- go ahead and make it, you see where I am going with this?

Whenever I see these things happening around me I think to myself, the only thing I can do is to make sure that my two boys are bought up in a house where we keep a healthy mindset. We make sure they understand and even educate others to think otherwise.

Let’s teach them to ‘fight with all their strength’ and ‘when you are upset it’s ok to cry’. We are living in 2018 and we shouldn’t have to deal with these things as we have bigger issues to worry and work on. We need to work together and make this world a better place to live.
