You all would have heard about intermittent fasting by now as there is big hype going on about it on the net.

I heard about intermittent fasting a few years ago but at that time I never gave it a go. A few of my friends are doing it and are obsessed with it. So finally I decided to give it a go.

I have been really good with my eating and workout. However two months ago I got a bit sick, nothing serious but it put me out of my routine to go out and workout. And also I was plateauing for a while. I thought this might be the time to change things a bit. As didn't want to undo whatever I have already achieved.

I started intermittent fasting and boy oh boy it worked... yes. Now few things that people need to understand about intermittent fasting:

1. It's not a diet, it's a healing process for our body.

2. It's gives our body time to process food.

3. It helps to regulate blood sugar and cholesterol

4. It does help loose weight too in a healthy way

5. You will be sleeping half the time of your fast. So it makes it easy to stick to it

6. You can start with a 12 hour fast and slowly increases it to 16 hours. For example if you have your last meal at 7pm and go to bed at 10pm, you already fasted for 3 hours. Now if you wake up at 7am, their you fasted for the whole 12 hours. The aim is to fast for at least 16 hours and keep the eating window for 8hours.

7. Oh and one more thing, 16 hours is the minimum. If you want/can stretch it longer.

8. Recognise that body is hungry not your mind going it's time for breakfast or lunch etc.

9. You can have non-calorie drinks like green tea, black coffee and even warm water to keep you going in the morning.

Now some myths about intermittent fasting:

1. Some people think they can eat whatever in the window when they are not fasting. Body still needs nutritious food and there is no substitute for that.

2. You can't exercise when you are fasting. Well from my experience I have been doing it and I haven't fainted once. It only helped me to tone up a little more. Also I have more energy on empty stomach.

3. You can't eat your favourite foods. Well you can enjoy your favourite snacks and comfort foods in moderation during the 8hours window.

I am enjoying my intermittent fasting and did I mention that I lost 7 pounds in a months. It helped me break my plateau cycle.

So here it is people. If you have any questions send it through and I will help you with it.
