Last week we decided to go on a road trip to Rotorua. For those who have never been to New Zealand, Rotorua is a major destination in North Island for both domestic and international tourists. It is know for its geothermal activity and hot mud pools. Rotorua also got a lot of adventurous stuff to do like Skyline Rotorua Luge, Quad biking, Jet skiing etc.

In 2013, we celebrated our first wedding anniversary in Rotorua. Both me and husband love to go on road trips. We had been to Rotorua a few times before but only for a day. For our anniversary we planned to stay a bit longer so we can enjoy everything Rotorua has to offer.

We pretty much did everything there was to do activities wise. And after a long weekend of fun we decide to unwind with a nice full body massage, spa and facial. Oh gosh I miss my full body massages. Sometimes we would only go for a day get a massage and come back.

In 2014 we had our first baby and in 2016 our second one. Now that the little one is around four months we thought let's take them to our favourite destination, Rotorua. So we packed everything and off we went. The only difference was instead of no bag we had three bags for a day trip (lol) oh and two kids haha.

We had a nice time on the road despite the weather was a bit wet and it took us around 5 hours to get there from Taranaki. Don't forget we have two kids now and it takes twice as long to get anywhere if they are not sleeping. But we enjoyed every moment of our trip. It's a perfect time for me and my husband to have long chats too. I absolutely love it.

The scenery on the way to Rotorua is really stunning. We have been on that road so many times but every time we drive through it looks prettier.

Here are a few shots on our way:

As it was a day trip we decided to go to Skyline Rotorua. It is the top Rotorua attraction and is located high on Mt Ngongotha. To get to the top you have to take a Gondola and the ride is so much fun with a view of Rotorua, the surrounding lake and geothermal areas.

My toddler was absolutely delighted to ride the Gondola as he thought it was a space ship. He is obsessed with anything to do with space so he was on cloud nine when we were riding the Gondola space ship (lol).

Here's us in the middle of the air:

My husband I decided to take turns with the toddler riding the luge as one of us had to stay with baby too. While my husband and toddler were luging away I was taking some pictures and having fun with this little one.

This is not a clear shot as they were quite far. But I captured the memory. My husband was terrified when they were coming up. He said 'I was quite nervous because there are no seat belts for the baby and it's really high'. Look at them holding hands, so cute.

It's was a a very nice trip and all of us enjoyed a lot. One our way out mother nature said the best good bye with the double rainbow.

What else can you ask for? A whole day of fun with family, Gondola ride, luge, amazing food and double rainbow. Thank you Rotorua until next time.
