As the holiday season is approaching we are getting ready for our camping trip to South Island, New Zealand. We have been planning to go to South Island for a while now, I means years. Every year we would talk about it and would end up going somewhere in North Island. It was because we couldn't really afford to travel by the ferry. And I always thought I can spend that money on shopping (hahaha).
But now that we have been pretty much everywhere in North Island we thought we could camp in South Island this year. Also, we have our family coming to visit and this is our second baby's first camping trip too (exciting times yay).
Today, I was getting some stuff out for our trip and it reminded me of our first camping trip back in 2014. Our first baby was 10 months old at that time. I can't believe he will three in February. And as this thought crossed my mind I got distracted from what I was doing and started to look at some photos from our trip.

We went to Cape Reinga for our trip in 2014. Cape Reinga is the northwesternmost tip of the Aupouri Peninsula, at the northern end of the North Island of New Zealand. It's official name is Cape Reinga/Te Rerenga Wairua.

The 'Te Rerenga Wairua' component of the name in Māori language means the leaping-off place of spirits. The 'Reinga' part of the name is the Māori language word meaning the underworld. Both refer to the Māori belief that the cape is the point where the spirits of the dead enter the underworld.
We had such a great time camping. During the day we visited all the local attractions from Cape Reinga Light house to 90 mile beach to sand boarding tour. At night we enjoyed our bbq's and enjoyed the sight of breathtaking sky full stars and the moon.

I was sitting on the floor with my cuppa tea, looking at the photos and smiling. It is amazing how many memories come back when you look at old pictures. Most of all I couldn't believe how grown up my baby is now. I thought it would be nice if babies would stay babies. Why do they have to grow up lol. The cuteness on his face is just indescribable.

It was an amazing trip and I look forward to making some more memories this year in South Island. Can't wait.
I would be posting about our trip to South Island, New Zealand soon. From what I have heard, it is paradise on earth. To join us on our trip don't forget to subscribe for updates.
