In my last post I mentioned that we stopped at Pio Pio on our way to Auckland last week. If you wish to read about it please click here.
We went to Auckland for four days and on the weekend we spend some good quality time with our family over in Auckland. My husband was suppose to go to his conference on Monday. I was thinking what will I do the whole day.
He got ready and went to attend his conference. After an hour he came back as his conference got postponed for next day (yay). I was really happy as we had the whole day to do something together. We decided to go to Waiheke Island. Mostly because we have never been there before and it was a beautiful day to be on an island lol.

Waiheke Island is in the Hauraki Gulf of New Zealand. To get to the island we had to take a ferry (very exciting) from Devonport Auckland. It was such and amazing experience to be on the ferry. It felt like I was in a movie lol. Our toddler had a such a blast riding the ferry. He was so excited to see the cargo ships as they were ginormous. He couldn't stop talking.
It was a 20 minute ride to the Waiheke Island. It was a very cute little place with local food places, cafes and shops. I shouldn't say little as Waiheke is the second largest island in the Gulf, after the Great Barrier Island.

We decided to have our lunch at Vino Vino restaurant. The service was amazing and food was delicious. They had a separate menu for the kids too, which was really handy.
After our lunch we had a look at some shops. And before our toddler got tired we took a taxi back to the ferry terminal. To our surprise he was equally excited to take the ferry back too. We thought he might not survive the tiring day, but he did really well and enjoyed a lot.

We had an amazing time. Not only because we got to see a new place but because we bonded as a family. It's time like these that make me fall in love with my husband all over again. He is so thoughtful and was taking care of all us the whole time.
Anyways, I would finish my post here otherwise I will ramble on and on about how amazing my husband is (hehehe).
